Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen

The Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen is 226 km away from the holiday apartments. It can be reached in 2.5 hours by car. The park is located close to motorway A7, exit Westenholz.

The park was founded in 1974 and cost 20 million DM to build. It was always under the management of the Sepe family.

After large scale additions from 1983 onwards, the park now offers not only a safari experience but also monkey enclosures, water rides, shows and outdoor fun.

The animal area is about 110 hectares large and is home to over 1500 free roaming animals. Even a group of white tigers can be discovered here. In 2004, the park was officially certified as Zoological Garden. In 2006, the park saw the birth of the first African elephant baby in Northern Germany in 30 years.

Visitors can discover the park in their own car or do a bus tour for 5 € per person. The tour takes one hour and is highly recommended. The bus drivers use food to lure animals like giraffes or rhinos close to the bus, a great experience not only for kids. The safari experience has 13 areas.

The Freizeitwelt in the Serengeti Park offers over 40 different rides for children and adults. There is a restaurant and several bistros in well-kept surroundings. Since 2007, visitors can stay overnight right inside the park. There are 80 holiday lodges with a total of 300 beds. The whole park has a tidy and friendly appearance and the lodges are clean and nice.
